چکیده
Non-native fishes can cause ecological impacts as invasive species, but identifying which non-native species have harmful is critical to prioritizing management and policy responses. Here, we characterized the state of knowledge on a possibly overlooked group in United States: non-game native transplant (NGNT) fishes. We propose that NGNT may be understudied relative game fish exotic introduced from outside country. In 2010, the United States adopted its first-ever comprehensive set of health system reforms in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Implementation of the law, though politically contentious and controversial, has now reached a stage where reversal of most elements of the law is no longer feasible. The controversial portions of the law that expand affordable health insurance coverage to most U.S. cit...
متن کاملTemporal trends in non-native fishes established in the continental United States
Management of non-native fish species is informed by monitoring their temporal and spatial distribution. There are few published analyses of temporal patterns of established non-native fish species. The objective of this study was to examine the utility of the American Fisheries Society’s (AFS) lists of fish names for quantifying trends in the number of established non-native fishes as a first ...
متن کاملEconomic Impacts of Non-Native Forest Insects in the Continental United States
Reliable estimates of the impacts and costs of biological invasions are critical to developing credible management, trade and regulatory policies. Worldwide, forests and urban trees provide important ecosystem services as well as economic and social benefits, but are threatened by non-native insects. More than 450 non-native forest insects are established in the United States but estimates of b...

Restriction fragment length polymorphisms in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) were used to reconstruct evolutionary relationships of conspecific populations in four species of freshwater fish-Amia calva, Lepomis punctatus, L. gulosus, and L. microlophus. A suite of 14-17 endonucleases was employed to assay mtDNAs from 305 specimens collected from 14 river drainages extending from South Carolina to Lou...
